Learn how to create and manage video compositions in the Timeline Editor.

Overview

Compositions are video projects in the Timeline Editor. Each composition has its own timeline, tracks, and settings.

Creating a New Composition

Step 1: Open Editor

Go to Apps → Editor

Step 2: Create Composition

Click Create Composition button

Step 3: Configure Settings

Composition Name: Give it a clear, descriptive name

• "Product Demo V2"
• "Social Ad - Instagram"
• "Tutorial Video"

Duration:

• Total length in seconds
• Can extend later if needed
• Consider final video length

Frame Rate (FPS):

• 24 fps - Cinematic
• 30 fps - Standard video
• 60 fps - Smooth motion

Resolution:

• 1080p (1920x1080) - HD
• 4K (3840x2160) - Ultra HD
• Custom dimensions

Step 4: Create

Click Create Composition

Composition Settings

Video Settings

• Resolution (1080p, 4K, custom)
• Frame rate (24, 30, 60 fps)
• Aspect ratio (16:9, 9:16, 1:1)

Audio Settings

• Sample rate (44.1kHz, 48kHz)
• Channels (stereo, mono)

Duration

• Initial length
• Can be extended
• Maximum: No limit

Opening Existing Compositions

1. Go to Editor app
2. See list of compositions
3. Click thumbnail to open
4. Editor loads with saved state

Composition List

View Options

• Grid view (thumbnails)
• List view (details)
• Sort by date, name, duration

Information Shown

• Thumbnail preview
• Composition name
• Duration
• Resolution/FPS
• Last modified date
• File size estimate

Managing Compositions

Rename

1. Right-click composition
2. Select "Rename"
3. Enter new name
4. Press Enter

Duplicate

1. Right-click composition
2. Select "Duplicate"
3. Copy appears with "(Copy)" suffix
4. Edit independently

Delete

1. Right-click composition
2. Select "Delete"
3. Confirm deletion
4. Warning: Cannot be undone!

Best Practices

Naming

Use descriptive names with version numbers:

• Good: "Product Demo V3 - Final"
• Bad: "Composition 1"

Organization

• Create compositions per project
• Use consistent naming
• Archive old versions
• Delete unused compositions

Settings

For Social Media:

• 1080p resolution
• 30 fps
• 9:16 for Stories
• 1:1 for feed posts

For YouTube:

• 1080p or 4K
• 24-30 fps
• 16:9 aspect ratio

For Web:

• 1080p
• 30 fps
• Compressed format
